, began seeing patients in July. Internal medicine, also called medicine of the adult, is about providing diagnosis, treatment and prevention of a broad spectrum of diseases affecting any organ or system. Dr. Urena said that no matter how rare or complex, internists are trained to address whatever health concern their patient has.
“I am very happy and excited to be able to help patients in this region, which has been so welcoming and is so beautiful,” Dr.Urena said. “The addition of an internist to the RMH family of physicians will offer patients another opportunity to find exceptional care close to home.”
Services at RMH Internal Medicine include:
- General medical care for patients 18 and older
- Preventive medicine
- Health maintenance programs
- Chronic disease management
- Immunizations, including flu shots
- Treatment of minor injuries and illnesses
Dr. Urena graduated from Universidad Pedro Henriquez Urena School of Medicine in the Dominican Republic. He completed his internal medicine residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Fla. He is a member of the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians and the Virginia Medical Society. He is board certified in internal medicine.
Dr. Urena is fluent in English and Spanish.
