Cancer survivors, cancer patients and caregivers may participate in a free yoga class 5:30-6:30 p.m. on Thursdays in the RMH Hahn Building conference rooms, located at the Medical Offices entrance.
Certified yoga instructor and breast cancer survivor Sue Nelson will lead the Kundalini Yoga class. Nelson describes Kundalini Yoga as a gentler technique for all skill levels that can be done from a chair. The class will include yoga movements, breath work, relaxation and meditation.
Class participants should:
- Wear comfortable clothing
- Bring a blanket or yoga mat unless staying in a chair
- Have a prescription or written permission from their doctor if currently receiving treatment
Nelson said research has shown yoga may help cancer patients cope with the side effects of treatments, keep muscles and joints healthy during and after cancer treatment, and improve mood and relieving stress.
