Ellen Shinaberry, RPH, PharmD, has been appointed to serve a four-year term on the Virginia Board of Pharmacy.
The Virginia Board of Pharmacy regulates the practice of pharmacy and the manufacturing, dispensing, selling, distributing, processing, compounding or disposal of drugs and devices. In addition, the Board issues licenses, takes disciplinary action on licensees who have violated a law or regulation enforced by the Board, and promulgates regulations.
The Virginia Board of Pharmacy consists of 10 members—eight pharmacists and two citizens—appointed by the Virginia governor to serve a four-year term.
“The citizens of the Commonwealth will undoubtedly benefit from Ms. Shinaberry’s commitment to share her time and talents in public service,” said Janet Vestal Polarek, Secretary of the Commonwealth, in a prepared statement.
Shinaberry, information technology manager of the RMH Pharmacy, has been with RMH for 18 years and has served in her current role for the last five.
“I look forward to the new challenges and responsibilities of contributing further to my profession,” she said. “I am excited to help move the practice of pharmacy forward.”
She is a past president of the Virginia Pharmacists’ Association, the organization that nominated her for a position on the Virginia Board of Pharmacy.
Shinaberry earned a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from the Medical College of Virginia and a doctor of pharmacy degree from the Shenandoah University School of Pharmacy.
