Martha C. Schneider, RN, MSN, nursing director of critical care, telemetry and nephrology at RMH, has been elected to serve a three-year term on the Alumni Council of the University of Virginia Nursing Alumni Association.
Schneider will serve as an alumni engagement coordinator, guiding events and activities that keep alumni involved with the school, said Julie Goodlick, director of alumni affairs for the U.Va. School of Nursing.
“Martha was an early recruit for this role,” Goodlick said. “We particularly welcomed her perspective as a graduate of our RN to BSN program, as those alumni have a unique experience. In addition, her professional experiences clearly show her leadership abilities. We know she will bring a lot to the council.”
The University of Virginia School of Nursing has nearly 9,000 living alumni worldwide.
Schneider received her bachelor of science in nursing and master of science in nursing from U.Va. She earned her master’s in public health from the University of California, Los Angeles, and is currently working on a doctorate of nursing practice degree at U.Va. She joined RMH in mid-2009.
“Martha embodies giving back to the nursing profession and staying involved in the professional community,” said Donna Hahn, RMH chief nurse executive and vice president, Acute Care Services. “We’re pleased that she has been honored with this leadership role.”
