RMH administrators will take to the streets at 2 p.m. this Wednesday for the second annual Gurney Tourney to thank employees for exceeding their 2010 annual employee gifts campaign goal of $80,000.
This year’s Employee Gifts Campaign –“Home Run”– ran from March 18-April 30. A total of 522 employees made a gift, including 70 who had never given gift before. Together, they exceeded the campaign goal of $80,000 by more than 10 percent, raising a total of $88,619.04.
The Gurney Tourney will take place in front of the RMH West Tower on South Mason Street (between Grace Street and Cantrell Avenue). During the gurney tourney, teams of two senior leaders each will square off against each other in head-to-head races as one member of the team rides the gurney while the other pushes. If there is inclement weather, the race will be moved under the West Tower and held during the same time.
Since 1975, employees have been supporting the hospital through an annual gifts campaign and have had the opportunity to support various needs throughout the hospital. The top three needs supported this year, in order, were: (1) the Employee Relief Fund, which helps support RMH employees facing a financial crisis; (2) the RMH Equipment and Program Fund, serving equipment and technology needs throughout the hospital; and (3) the capital campaign supporting the construction of the new hospital and health campus.
