Karen Phipps, MA, RHIA, has been named director, Health Information Management (HIM) and Coding at RMH.
“Karen brings more than 30 years of progressive experience as a health information management leader, most recently as privacy officer and director of health information management at Civista Medical Center in La Plata, Maryland,” said Mike Rozmus, vice president, Information Services, and chief information officer. “We are happy to have her join our team.”
In her role at RMH, Phipps will be responsible for directing and overseeing release of information, chart processing, analyzing medical record quality, transcription, coding, and overseeing the clinical documentation management program.
“RMH is such a caring organization and I feel very fortunate to be part of the RMH team,” Phipps said. “This is a wonderful opportunity to make a difference and work with people dedicated to the wellbeing of this community.”
Phipps earned her master’s in health informatics and informatics management from the College of St. Scholastica, and completed her bachelor’s in medical record administration at Illinois State University.
She is a member of the American Health Information Management Association and the Virginia Health Information Management Association.
