Gemzar (gemcitabine hcl)

This drug is approved for treatment of patients with ovarian cancer. Gemcitabine can interfere with the growth of rapidly growing cells, like cancer cells, and eventually causes cell death. Gemcitabine is used alone or in combination with other chemotherapy agents.

Doxil (doxorubicin liposomal)

FDA Approved January 2005

This drug is approved for treatment of patients with ovarian cancer whose disease has progressed or recurred after both paclitaxel- and  platinum-based chemotherapy.

Taxol (paclitaxel)

FDA Approved June 2000

Paclitaxel is made from the needles and bark of certain kinds of yew trees. Paclitaxel interferes with the growth of rapidly dividing cells, like cancer cells, and eventually causes these cells to die. Paclitaxel may be used alone or with other chemotherapy agents or radiation therapy. Generic paclitaxel injections are available.
