Activities and Programs for Children

Creative Movements (parent and child class)

Children ages 2-3 learn beginning gymnastic skills and develop awareness through creative movement, music and equipment exploration. For more information, call HealthSource at 433-4580.

Holiday Parties

Members' children ages 1-10 are invited to attend our annual Easter, Harvest and Christmas Parties, featuring crafts, games and a snack. For more information, call the Children's Programming Supervisor at 564-5684 or email dpattiso@rhcc.com

Karate

In a fun and structured atmosphere, children ages 4-12 will learn the beginning basics of Karate, techniques that enhance coordination, self-esteem, respect, and more. For clinic schedule, call the Program Coordinator at 564-5695.

Soccer League

Emphasis on learning and having fun! No score/win records. Children must be 4-6 years old. Saturdays from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. for eight weeks. Spring and Fall leagues are available. For more information, call HealthSource at 433-4580.

Soccer Clinic

Young soccer players ages 4-8 can join us late summer to focus on the fundamentals of dribbling, passing, shooting, and heading. Activities will be geared toward technical skill development. For clinic schedule, call the Program Coordinator at 564-5695.

Group Swim Lessons

We offer parent/child classes for ages infants 6-18 months (Baby & Me), for toddlers 18 months-3 years (Toddlers & Me), and Levels I-IV (ages 4-12). For more information, call HealthSource at 433-4580.

Private Swim Lessons

For all ages. Learn to swim one-on-one from an experienced swim instructor. Package prices are available. For more information, call the Aquatic Coordinator at 433-4347 or email michelle.higdon.6299@rhcc.com.

Children's Birthday Parties

Choose from three party themes, Creative Arts, Pool or Sports & Activities. No age limit. To schedule your child's birthday, call 564-5684 or email dpattiso@rhcc.com. Registration required at least two weeks in advance for the intended party.

YES Club (Youth Endurance Strength Club)

A structured fitness area for child members ages 6-12 that's designed for exercise, games, and fun. A variety of activities are scheduled each day, which may include aerobic classes, swimming, rock climbing, circuit training, and much more! KIDZ KLUB

Provides quality child care for members and guests in a secure, creative and safe environment. Available for children 6 weeks to 12 years old at $2.50 an hour per child. If your children are on the account, no additional fees are required. Open:

Monday-Thursday, 8:15 a.m.-1 p.m. and 4-8:30 p.m.
Friday, 8:15 a.m.-1 p.m. and 4-6:30 p.m.
Saturday, 8:30 a.m.-noon

Summer Camps for Kids

Why not give your kids a summer they'll never forget? Summer camp at the RMH Wellness Center will fill your childen's days with fun! They'll learn the fundamentals of many different sports and activities, while practicing good teamwork and sportsmanship. Activities may include basketball, softball, soccer, swimming, crafts, educational activities and much more!

Parents Night Out

Members' children ages 1-12 may be dropped off at the Wellness Center the third Friday evening of every month for games, movies, snacks and fun. Registration is required by the Wednesday before by calling Healthsource at 433-4580.

Introduction to Strength Training

A program designed for kids ages 10 and up that are ready to begin a strength training program. A certified personal trainer will guide participants through a strength training program that will combine upper and lower body exercise while utilizing and building core strength. This experience will be an effective way for kids to learn how to lift safely. Both members and non-member are welcome to participate. Ballroom Dancing

An eight-week program that teaches the basics of the foxtrot and waltz. Our instructor, who is a member of the United States Amateur Ballroom Dancing Association, has been offering classes for 12 years. Couples are required. Participants ages 16 and older are welcome. Additional dance formats taught through out the year such as Swing and the Hustle. For more information, contact the Program Coordinator by calling 564-5695.

Livin' Well

A member incentive program that allows your entire family to track fitness activities and earn rewards for your efforts toward achieving a healthier lifestyle. Track your mileage and energy expenditure, then earn points and win prizes. For more information contact the Member Service Specialist at 564-5685 or email sweakley@rhcc.com.

Progressive Exercise

A supervised program that provides a safe and effective bridge from structured clinical treatment and/or rehabilitation to a healthy, active lifestyle. Participants meet one-on-one with a certified Clinical Exercise Specialist (CES) once a week for 12 weeks. A physician referral is required for entrance into the program. Personal Training

Personal Training is one-on-one instruction with a highly qualified RMH Wellness Center staff member who is certified by a nationally accredited organization. If you're just beginning an exercise program, an active adult who has reached a fitness plateau, or an athlete training for a special event, a trainer can make a difference for you!

Partner Training

Work out with a trainer and a friend. For RMH Wellness Center members only. For more information on personal training, call the Fitness Supervisor at 564-5698 or email greid2@rhcc.com.

Specialty Group Training

Throughout the year, special packages are developed to meet the needs of our members. Personal trainers work with groups to assist athletes to reach higher levels of speed, agility, quickness and reaction to a specific sport. Look for the EDGE, a program intended to decrease the risk of injury by promoting improved flexibility, muscle and correct form. This is perfect for athletes, both high school, and college levels for off season training. Members and non-members can participate. You should also look for Strength, Sculpt, and ABsolution, an exercise session that is designed to improve an individual's strength, shape, and definition. Groups meet with a personal trainer to learn the fundamentals of strength training as well as new cutting edge strength exercises. Both members and non-member are welcome to participate. For the golfer, consider Fit to a Tee, a 6-week comprehensive golf program with a Golf Professional and an Exercise Physiologist. Program includes video golf swing analysis, strength and flexibility assessment, 8 individual golf session, 8 personal training sessions, group golf instruction, group strength and flexibility training. All training is aimed at addresses individuals' weakness in order to improve their golf game. Fitness Assessments

A periodic fitness assessment which is free throughout your Wellness Center membership. These series of tests are designed to identify your current fitness level and help you define your health and fitness goals. It is also a wonderful way to monitor your progress and redefine your fitness prescription.

All assessment tests are optional - you decide which tests you wish to take. The following tests are available:

  • Body Composition - we measure height, weight, circumference, and proportion of lean mass and body fat.
  • Muscular Strength - we test both arm and leg strength by measuring the maximum force a muscle can exert.
  • Muscular endurance - we analyze abdominal and upper body endurance. Muscular endurance is achieved when the muscle can exercise for a long period of time without fatigue.
  • Muscular flexibility - we measure your flexibility which is the ability of the muscles, tendons, and ligaments around a joint to provide support while allowing movement through a full range of motion.
  • Cardiorespiratory fitness - we measure the functional state of the cardiovascular system and your respiratory system analyzing your over all health status.

Pre-Natal Yoga and Pilates Classes

Class designed to increase strength and flexibility, and improve breathing and focus. Classes are taught by a certified group fitness instructor and will help you enhance your fitness, relax your mind and body, and introduce you baby to life of wellness! A physician consent form needs to be completed prior to the start of the class. Members and non-members are welcomed to participate. For more information, call HealthSource at 540-433-4580.

CPR Courses

Basic Life Support for the Health Care Provider is a six-hour course that teaches CPR skills for victims of all ages; use of an automated external defibrillator (AED); relief of foreign body airway obstruction; and ventilation with a barrier device, bag mask device and oxygen.
