RMH is privileged to have four international board certified breastfeeding consultants on staff. A lactation consultant is at the hospital from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. each weekday and from approximately 10 a.m.-noon on Saturdays and Sundays, making rounds on the Family BirthPlace. During those hours, the lactation consultant is also available at your request in the Boutique.
The lactation consultants teach breastfeeding classes and also have an on-call line they check every few hours from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. daily. They are available for outpatient consultations to trouble-shoot problems that develop after the initial home visit and to discuss such topics as preparing to breastfeed an adopted infant.
