Giving to RMH
Mission Statement
The RMH Foundation supports community-based Rockingham Memorial Hospital and enhances its mission of providing high-quality, cost effective healthcare and building a healthier community.
The Foundation selects funding needs and implements a progressive and comprehensive development program. The program identifies, educates, cultivates, solicits and recognizes current and potential donors.
The Foundation also facilitates and supports communication between the hospital and the community it serves.
Does my gift to the Foundation make any difference?
Virtually every patient at the hospital benefits from equipment purchased through the RMH Foundation. Since its beginning in 1975, the Foundation has directed more than $25 million to fund a wide variety of needs at the hospital. RMH has been able to significantly improve the care patients receive because of gifts from a caring and generous community. In fact, the RMH Cancer Center is a reality because of $3.5 million donated by the community.
Are the records of the Foundation audited?
Yes, since the RMH Foundation is legally part of Rockingham Memorial Hospital, the Foundation's books are audited as a part of the hospital's audit. The audit is done annually by an independent accounting firm.
Who oversees the collection and spending of donated funds?
A twenty-member board of community leaders governs the RMH Foundation. These board members, who serve without compensation, meet regularly to review the Foundation’s activity. This oversight includes how money is being raised and also how it is spent. Board members are elected for a 3-year term of office and can be elected to two terms.
