The RMH Regional Cancer Center Image Recovery Center® recently received a $7,000 gift from the Harrisonburg Junior Woman’s Club’s sixth annual Charity Classic golf tournament and auction.
The funds will provide appearance enhancement services to patients who cannot afford them on their own and are dealing with scarring, skin changes, hair loss and other consequences of disease, injury or treatment.
“RMH is thankful to have the ongoing support of the Harrisonburg Junior Woman’s Club,” said Merv Webb, Vice President, RMH Foundation. “They are such a positive force in our community and this gift will truly help those who are in a vulnerable position.”
This golf tournament and auction were hosted April 26 at Packsaddle Ridge Golf Club in Keezletown. More than 95 businesses and individuals sponsored or donated to this event, with 86 golfers participating. The event raised over $9,500 for local charities, including the $7,000 gift to the Image Recovery Center.
“We try to give back to the community at any chance we have,” said Leila Cosby Longcor, president of the Harrisonburg Junior Woman’s Club. “We are dedicated to helping and improving the community we live and work in.”
Webb noted that the Harrisonburg Junior Woman’s Club is a long-time supporter of RMH, with donations over the years going to the Hand-in-Hand Resource Mothers Program, the RMH Regional Cancer Center, digital mammography and other services. This is the first year that proceeds from this tournament benefited the Image Recovery Center.
