At its June meeting, the RMH Board of Directors welcomed new member C. Wayne Gates, MD.
Dr. Gates is an ear, nose and throat physician in practice at Meadowcrest ENT and Facial Cosmetic Center of Harrisonburg. He has been a member of the RMH Medical Staff since 1985.
“Dr. Gates has demonstrated a strong commitment to RMH through his medical staff leadership and his dedication to high standards in quality patient care,” said Jim Krauss, RMH president and CEO. “I am confident he will make a great contribution to governance and I look forward to his involvement on the Board.”
Dr. Gates graduated from the Louisiana State University School of Medicine. He completed his internship at the U.S. Public Health Service Hospital and residency at Tulane University and the Louisiana State University Medical Center.
He is board certified in otolaryngology—head and neck surgery.
“I hope to bring a physician’s perspective to board operations,” Gates said. “I am also a small business owner—I run my own practice. I hope to help create a more integrated medical system in our community, especially through unifying information technology systems so that we can deliver the best care to patients in our community.”
Dr. Gates is a past president of the Virginia Society of Otolarygology and a member of the American Medical Association, the Medical Society of Virginia and the American Academy of Otolarygology—Head and Neck Surgery.
Dr. Gates and his wife, Donna, work together at Meadowcrest. They have four sons and four grandchildren.
