The Food and Drug Administration has linked the recent meningitis outbreak to a steroid product produced at the New England Compounding Center (NECC).

The company has voluntarily recalled three lots of the drug methylprednisolone acetate, which is used in steroid injections.

RMH has not purchased any methylprednisolone from NECC and thus has not used it in steroid injections at RMH or its clinics. We have quarantined other products from that vendor as a precaution.

The symptoms of meningitis include fever, headache, stiff neck, nausea, sensitivity to light and confusion. If you or a loved one has these symptoms and recently received a steroid injection, please consult your doctor right away or go to the Emergency Department for evaluation.
