RMH Hospice will hold its second annual “Butterfly Picnic,” with reflection, music and a butterfly release in honor of lost loved ones, 12:30-3 p.m. April 30 at the JMU Edith Carrier Arboretum.
The free family event will feature a musical performance by the Spotswood High School Jazz Band, a walk through the Arboretum trails and a butterfly release. Children’s activities are planned. Families are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and picnic.
“This is an opportunity for our families to get together,” said Andree Jeannotte, bereavement coordinator, RMH Hospice. “We will have ‘a walk to remember,’ which is an opportunity for families to reminisce about their loved one. It’s really going to be an uplifting event. Springtime is a time of renewal and hope—that’s the message.”
Parking is available in JMU Convocation Center Lot G, across from the Arboretum. In the event of inclement weather, the rain date is May 1, Jeannotte noted.
