Respiratory Care At RMH, pulmonologists, registered respiratory therapists and nurses work together to provide comprehensive respiratory care to patients of all ages—from premature infants to elderly patients. This staff is highly skilled in treating various pulmonary conditions, such as chronic lung disease, lung cancer, emphysema, asthma, bronchitis, cystic fibrosis, pneumonia and congestive heart failure. Pulmonary care is provided around the clock and a pulmonologist is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Respiratory Care Services include:
- Bronchodilator therapy, chest wall manipulation, hyperinflation therapy, oxygen therapy, sputum collection, and arterial blood gas puncture and analysis
- Peak flow determination
- Advanced airway establishment and maintenance
- Emergency resuscitation measures
- Invasive and non-invasive ventilator management (intubated neonatal/pediatric patients requiring mechanical ventilation are transferred from RMH to tertiary care centers)
