During National Donor Sabbath, observed Nov. 9-11, RMH will fly the Donate Life Flag to raise awareness about the need for organ, eye and tissue donors.
National Donor Sabbath is observed annually two weekends prior to Thanksgiving. Because faith plays a significant role in the decision to register as a donor, every year donation and transplant organizations work closely with communities of faith to bring the message of donation to congregations.
“The gift of organ donation can save multiple lives,” said Brenda Hedrick, RN, nurse coordinator. “The decision to donate is very personal, and every situation is unique. Our goal is to raise awareness of the need for this special gift. We are able to provide compassionate support for families at a difficult time who are struggling with decisions around organ and tissue donation”
All major religions support organ, eye and tissue donation as a final act of kindness and generosity. Regardless of religion, the public is encouraged to visit

According to Donate Life America, 28,535 organ transplants were performed in 2011 in addition to 46,000 cornea transplants and more than 1 million tissue transplants.
