Debra Thompson, associate director, RMH public relations and communications, has been named a national winner in the 2007 National Federation of Press Women (NFPW) communications contest.
Thompson received first place for “HealthQuest,” the hospital’s quarterly health magazine, in the four-color magazine category.
Contest awards were presented Sept. 22 during NFPW's 70th anniversary conference in Richmond, Va.
Thompson’s winning entry was among 278 selected from a total of 970 submitted. All entries in the national contest, which was judged by professionals from across the country, had received first-place awards at the state level. Thompson is a member of the Virginia Press Women (VPW), an affiliate of NFPW.
“It is gratifying to have HealthQuest recognized as best in the nation by this talented and accomplished group of women,” Thompson said. “This is a testament to the hard work of the staff who pour their hearts into the production of the magazine day after day.”
NFPW is an organization of professional journalists and communicators. For 70 years, it has promoted the highest ethical standards in communications; provided professional development, youth programs and networking; and advocated for protection of First Amendment rights.
