Ganesh D. Kini, MD, PhD, has been named medical director of RMH Inpatient Physicians (hospitalists).
In this new role, he collaborates with other leaders to improve the clinical effectiveness, operational efficiency and customer satisfaction of the RMH Inpatient Physicians.
The inpatient physicians, or hospitalists, act as attending physicians for about 60 percent of inpatient medical patients whose physicians have chosen not to admit patients, explained Dale Carroll, MD, RMH Chief Medical Officer. They also provide consults on many surgical patients.
Dr. Kini will work closely with the two other team medical directors--John Anderson, DO, and Ketan Patel, MD--as well as with Gloria Green, RN, patient care supervisor.
“The RMH hospitalist team has grown from three physicians in 2001 to approximately 20 physicians, nurses, clerical and administrative staff,” Dr. Carroll said. “Together, they will continue the journey of excellence that the group started in January 2001.”
Dr. Kini joined the RMH Medical Staff in 2006. He is board certified in internal medicine. He received a PhD in organic chemistry from Utah State University. He graduated from St. George’s University School of Medicine and completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Virginia, Roanoke-Salem program.
