| The Alpha Phi Sorority of James Madison University has raised $11,475 for RMH Women’s Heart Check.
These funds will be used to offer free educational heart health screenings to patients of the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Free Clinic, which serves an uninsured, low-income population at high risk for heart disease.
Maria Hostetter, RMH Heart Check navigator, thanked the group for its support of women’s heart health.
“The RMH Heart Check program is a unique educational service that has served over 600 women and 70 men over the past two years,” Hostetter said. “With the outstanding support of the Alpha Phi Foundation, we will be able to provide Harrisonburg-Rockingham Free Clinic patients with heart disease risk factor screening and education.”
The sorority raised the money through its annual February fundraiser, a 5K walk/run for the RMH Heart Check program. Through its annual Cardiac Care Award, the Alpha Phi Foundation helps fund research and education programs that support women’s cardiac health.
