Vipin Malik, MD, of RMH Pulmonary Associates, recently passed the sleep medicine board certification examination administered by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Malik joins his RMH Pulmonary Associates colleagues, Frank Barch, MD, and William Cale, MD, in being board-certified in sleep medicine. All three physicians are qualified to evaluate and treat sleep disorders and to oversee and interpret sleep studies. They are affiliated with the RMH Center for Sleep Medicine.
Board certification in sleep medicine indicates a substantial professional commitment to sleep medicine and documents a physician’s expertise in sleep medicine for patients, professional colleagues and organizations.
“The fact that Dr. Malik successfully completed board examinations while providing substantial physician leadership in the RMH Critical Care Unit speaks volumes about his abilities,” said Randy Hoffman, RMH Physician Practice Manager. “His ongoing dedication to study coincides with his patients’ constant recognition of his compassion. It speaks volumes about his character. Dr. Malik is also an integral part of the RMH pulmonary services team recognized by HealthGrades as No. 1 in Virginia.”
Dr. Malik graduated from Maulana Azad Medicine School in New Dehli, India. He completed his internship and residency at the University of Arkansas College of Medicine and his fellowship at Maimonides Medical Center, Brooklyn, N.Y.
Dr. Malik is also board-certified in pulmonary disease, internal medicine and critical care. He has been an active member of the RMH Medical Staff since 2006.
