Ellen Barrett, RD, has been named director, Food and Nutrition Services at RMH.
In this role, Barrett will be responsible for daily operation of eight departments, including outpatient nutrition services, clinical dietitians, food service administration, patient food service, catering, vending, Trackside Café (RMH Wellness Center) and Garden Café.
Barrett most recently served as general manager of food and nutrition at Community Health Partners in Cleveland, where she oversaw food services operations at three medical sites. Prior to that, she had served as general manager for food and nutrition at Detroit Receiving Hospital since 2001.
She replaces Food and Nutrition Services Director Helen Young, who recently retired.
“Ellen has definitely hit the ground running and has many new ideas to continue improving our clinical and retail food service operations,” said Mark Zimmerman, vice president, human resources development and support services. “She has a wealth of experience in the industry and we are fortunate to have her join our team.”
Barrett holds a bachelor of science degree in food and nutrition from Xavier University, Cincinnati, Ohio. She completed her dietetic internship at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan.
