Larger, more efficiently designed space for patients and staff
Even before entering the Hahn Cancer Center, you'll notice the expanded parking. Two lots (A and B) have been designated for the Center. Inside, you will see more spacious waiting areas, widened corridors and more examination rooms than the old Cancer Center.
On the chemotherapy side, the new infusion area, where patients receive chemotherapy and other intravenous treatments, has 20 infusion chairs instead of the 14 at the former facility. The additional chairs enable the Center to offer a dedicated area for patients having short infusion procedures of 15 or 20 minutes. All of the infusion chairs face a large wall of glass that looks into a beautiful “reflection garden” that provides a more peaceful, serene view for infusion patients.
The phlebotomy lab, where patients’ blood is drawn, has double the seating capacity that the old Center had. And the number of patient exam rooms has increased from six to 10. With the addition of a fifth oncologist and more exam rooms, as well as a dedicated short infusion procedure area, patients will not have to wait as long to get their chemotherapy and other treatments.
Our onsite pharmacy provides medications for patients treated at the Cancer Center or for those admitted to our oncology unit. It is overseen by a clinical oncology pharmacy specialist and staffed with technicians who specialize in preparing chemotherapy and biotherapy agents.
Leading-edge technology offers enhanced patient care and safety
On the radiation therapy side, new technology provides safer radiation treatments that are also easier on patients. A new leading-edge linear accelerator, the Varian Trilogy®, requires shorter treatment times and spares surrounding
healthy tissue as it treats with a beam that can be aimed with pin-point accuracy.
We continue to provide image-guided, intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), which is the highest quality in cancer treatment. And we’re able to offer high-dose-rate (HDR) brachytherapy for certain types of cancers. HDR limits the amount of radiation that affects surrounding healthy tissues and is useful in treating certain cancers of the breast, cervix, prostate, rectum, uterus and lungs.
Same great patient care staff
Every aspect of the new Hahn Cancer Center is designed to help us provide quality patient care. The new Hahn Cancer Center is a larger, more efficient setting in which to treat patients, and the beautiful, peaceful environment is more conducive to a positive patient experience.
