HOO-HA! A Marketer's Introduction to Mountain Biking
My subtitle is a bit misleading. I should state that I did not, at any time, ride a bike or go into the mountains. I did, however, help represent RMH Orthopedics and Sports Medicine at the Massanutten HOO-HA mountain bike race this past weekend.
The clinic was the official sponsor for the children's portion of the race. Me and the rest of the RMH team members there, including orthopedist Dr. Tom Weber, had fun registering the kiddos, pinning race numbers onto their shirts, and watching them buzz around the field on their tiny bikes.
Meanwhile, the REAL mountain bikers - the hard core crowd in spandex suits - zipped down the side of the mountain every so many minutes as they competed in the downhill portion of the race. (Have you ever tried mountain biking? I find it to be insanely hard!)
At 3:15, the kids' races began, starting off with a drag race, and followed by half- and one-mile laps. I was in charge of writing down each rider's number as he or she crossed the finish line. It was so fun watching and cheering on these guys!
So why was RMH at this race? The backbone of RMH is that we are a community hospital. We work hard to make sure we're out in our community - whether that's by offering free health screenings, providing educational seminars, or clocking your child's time as he bikes across the finish line. We feel strongly that our job isn't just to help you get well, but to help you live well, too.
We'll continue to be out and about this summer and in the months and years to come! When you see us, come say hi!
