At RMH we use the Recovery of Hope model which provides the framework to begin addressing the elements necessary for recovery from mental illness or substance dependence. Recovery is a process of learning to manage illness, achieve personal goals, move forward with life, develop new meaning and/or restore aspects of life that make it fulfilling. The four basic principles or elements are:

Hope – Accepting the reality of the illness and the belief that recovery is possible.

Healing – The ability to define yourself separately from the illness and to play an active role in managing symptoms and treatment.

Empowerment – Taking responsibility for managing symptoms and work toward personal goals

Connections – Finding meaningful roles and developing social connections and relationships. Download the Recovery of Hope brochure
